It starts with what I want to hear.
I make music I like. That sounds almost suspiciously simple, but it’s the centre of this project. I want to make songs I feel like putting on again. A chorus that follows me into the kitchen is a fairly good sign.
Gefea personifies my musical taste. The group gives that taste characters, voices and somewhere to belong. As the world grows, I’m curious to see how it can give the music a more distinct identity, too.
Five people to write towards.
Gabriel, Elin, Freya, Elias and Alma are fictional. Their different voices, backgrounds and personalities are part of the art project. I want those differences to mean something in the songs, beyond having five names and five portraits.
Can a vocal feel like Gabriel, with his sense of rhythm? Can Elin’s lighter voice and Elias’s lower one make room for each other? What happens when Freya’s big, expressive sound meets Alma’s darker tone? Those are the kinds of questions I want to explore.
I’m interested in whether I can build a musical world that feels coherent: songs that belong to this particular group, while still leaving room for each member’s individual qualities.
The words are mine. AI helps shape the music.
I write the lyrics, then use AI tools to create and develop the music. The words come from me; AI is part of how I explore what they might sound like.
My taste is the thread running through it. What kind of feeling am I looking for? Does this sound like something Gefea would sing? And, quite personally, do I like it? I want to keep asking those questions as I learn what the tools can do.
This is an ongoing experiment. I’m exploring how much character, variety and continuity I can give an imagined group through the music. I don’t have every answer yet. That’s a good reason to keep making songs.
A fictional world, with a real person behind it.
The member interviews, studio scenes and little adventures on this website belong to Gefea’s fictional world. The images are created with AI. When the group tells you about a weekend in the archipelago, you’re reading a story within the project.
Here, you’re hearing from me. The stories give the music a place to live; this page explains how I’m building that place. I hope you’ll enjoy spending some time in Gefea’s world where only music and happiness exist — and find a song you want to take home with you.
